In February, I took part in a meeting with San Jose City Council Member Johnny Khamis and a few of the local Almaden service clubs to discuss projects to improve our community.
One key takeaway from that meeting was that community volunteers are needed and each of these organizations are looking for help. Do you want to give back to the community? Do you want to have an impact on someone’s life? Do you want to make friends and have fun? Check out these amazing non-profit organizations in the Almaden community.
As a board member of the Almaden Valley Women’s Club, I’m partially biased, however, all of these organizations are amazing and provide so much for our local community, including scholarships, grants, beautification projects and more.
Just in Almaden, as in other communities, there are many different organizations. One is sure to match your goals, personality and schedule. Please considering joining a local service club in your community!
Almaden Valley Women’s Club
Organized in 1965, the club is committed to serving the needs of the Almaden Valley community through funds raised at the annual Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival (September 15, 2019).
All festival proceeds are donated back to the community as scholarships and community grants. April 2, 2019: AVWC monthly meeting (bring a friend)
Kiwanis Club of Almaden Valley
Serving the Almaden Community since 1988, the club participates in a variety of projects throughout the year that involve fundraising, community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide.
Almaden Super Lion’s Club
Founded in 1956 the club provides services for those in need, especially children and the visually impaired, providing free eye exams and eyeglasses, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for families (including gifts for the children), backpacks filled with school supplies, Diabetes Camp for children, and much more.
The Rotary Club of Almaden Valley
Chartered in 1969, includes men and women representing a wide cross-section of local businesses and professions. The club meets for fellowship, lunch/dinner, and interesting and informative programs dealing with topics of local and global importance.

Beautiful Day
Since its inception in 2004, Beautiful Day is a group of government agencies, community organizations and people from all walks of life serving others by addressing all sorts of needs across Santa Clara County. They seek to invest in communities with simple, direct and unyielding kindness. Each project is an act of no-strings-attached service for those who are otherwise unable to help themselves.
